Guide to Environmental Analytical Methods Updated in the Fourth Edition
The promulgation of Update III of EPA SW-846 brought sweeping changes to the environmental
testing community. This is the most massive regulatory change to impact the industry in
recent years. The editors of the Guide have been closely following the developments of
SW-846 and have incorporated all of the most recent changes into the revised Fourth Edition,
including:
The Guide delivers big benefits.
- Significant changes or additions in sample preparation methods (extraction techniques
and volatile organic procedures), clean-up methods, determinative methods, and immunoassay
methods,
- 54 new methods have been added,
- 39 existing methods have been updated, and
- 15 methods have been removed.
Other revisions and improvements include a complete review (and updating where necessary)
of all other methods included in the book. A new section has been added which contains a
history of updates to the SW-846 third edition (1986 through 1997). This history not only
tells you what the current promulgated method is, but also shows what's been deleted, and
what's replaced it. This is a real bonus for new lab personnel who don't have a familiarity
with past regulatory developments. An updated Contact Directory with e-mail and environmental
website information has also been added. In all, over 20 pages have been added, making the
Guide to Environmental Analytical Methods a better value than ever!
