Frame Relay
If I were to rank all of the topics addressed on the CCIE written and lab
exams in order of importance, frame-relay would probably be number one on
my list. I cannot emphasize enough that in order to obtain CCIE
certification you must know frame-relay cold.
Frame-relay provides a foundation for your understanding of other
technologies such as ISDN, ATM, X.25, and SMDS. If you understand the
Nonbroadcast Multi-Access (NBMA) nature of frame-relay, then learning the
other technologies will be much easier since all of the NBMA technologies
have similar configuration problems.
