Casting
Emphasizing the production of aircraft castings, this program covers investment, CO2 sand, permanent mold and die casting processes. Elements common to all casting processes, such as patterns, shrink allowance, molding techniques, cores, gating systems, and melting of metal, are illustrated through graphics and in-plant scenes. Typical examples of casting defects, including shrinkage, porosity, cracks, inclusions, mis-runs (non-file), and dimensional problems are shown and discussed. Advantages and disadvantages of each casting process are listed as they pertain to aircraft engine requirements. Length: 28 minutes. Order #151
