AMSTERDAM, NY - June 15, 2023 - Genium Publishing Corporation announced today that Gary Whitmire has been named Technical Editor of its popular Modern Drafting Practices and Standards Manual. Mr. Whitmire, a nationally known authority on application and interpretation of drawing and design standards, has over 35 years experience in engineering documentation. He is a member of the AMSE Y14 committee and is actively involved with the Y14.5 committee on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT).
Mr. Whitmire will be responsible for the Drafting Manual's Updating Service, which provides subscribers on a regular basis with up-to-date content on drawing standardization.
"Drafting organizations have relied on the new material in the Drafting Manual to keep them up-to-date on new standards and current work practices, said Michael Cinquanti, Genium's President. "Gary Whitmire brings great past experience as a draftsman, drafting instructor and consultant of dimensioning and tolerancing issues. His participation on ASME committees has given him great insight into the new standards, and his talent for explaining and illustrating the concepts involved equips him to deliver the useful information users expect to find in the Drafting Manual."
Mr. Whitmire will also be responsible for content for the Drafting ZONE (www.genium.com/draftingzone), a new website examines major topics of interest to drafters and provides guidelines about the related standards. "The Drafting ZONE is an exciting avenue that Genium will use to respond to our subscribers' need for constantly updated drafting information," commented Cinquanti.

Background
The Drafting Manual has helped drafting professionals answer questions, avoid mistakes, and settle disputes for a century. Developed by the General Electric Company in 1901, and updated continually ever since, it is the product of decades of experience by hundreds of draftsmen, engineers, and department managers. It covers and interprets American national drafting standards and practices and is the most comprehensive single source of drafting standards information on the market today. An annual Updating Service adds new and revised sections to the Drafting Manual each year.
